Waiganjo told Senior Resident Magistrate Joe Omido that he had been giving “a lot of money” to prison officers so they can transport him to Nyeri, Nakuru, and Kajiado where he has pending cases.
The suspected police impersonator sought the intervention of the court so that he could be allowed an opportunity to present the matter before the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC).
“The bosses always say that the vehicles have no fuel and if I don't provide the same, I cannot attend court,” Waiganjo told the Nakuru court.
He added that the warders who escort him to court are well aware of the harassment meted to him by their bosses.
In light of the revelation, Waiganjo told the court that he did not feel safe going back to the Nakuru GK prison and requested that he be remanded at Naivasha GK prison so that he can record a statement at Naivasha Police Station.
The prosecutor did not object to Waiganjo’s request.
Waiganjo hit national headlines after he was found to have impersonated an assistant commissioner of police for five years.
The extent of Waiganjo's daring impersonation was like a fictional tale and became a topic of social discussion for several months.
In one incident, the fake cop was captured in photos inspecting a guard of honour by Kenya Forestry guards during a graduation ceremony at Londiani, Kericho County.
In another photo, Waiganjo was spotted boarding a police helicopter that was heading to Baragoi for a sensitive security operation.
After he was apprehended, Waiganjo was found guilty of impersonating a police officer and sentenced to five years in prison. However, there are other ongoing cases against him.
The wealthy convict has indicated that he will be vying to become Njoro MP in 2017.
