Nullify Entire Aug General Election; Karua Asks Court

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has asked the court to nullify the August 8 general election. In a certificate of urgency at the High Court in Kerugoya she says the presidential election was carried out alongside five others, which should also be nullified.

She said all lower courts are bound by the decision of the Supreme Court, which found irregularities in the presidential election. Through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, she urged the court to refer the matter to the Chief Justice so he can constitute a three-bench judge to hear her application.
Karua, who lost her bid for the Kirinyaga governor seat, said there is no need to hear the main application she filed in court since the Supreme Court findings are binding to all other seats. The application will be heard on September 18.
