Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has promised parents of students who perished in the Moi Girls fire that he will provide transport to bodies of the nine girls who died to their respective Counties.
In a statement to Media houses, through the Deputy Director of National Disaster Management Unit Pius Masai, Sonko will help in the transportation of all the bodies as per the family plans.
Masai added that the governor has also promised to provide personal support to the families by attending the burials.
“Families have been advised to communicate to the school and participate in the prayer day for the loss of their beloved ones” reads part of the statement
He also said the eight families had been given burial permits except for one remaining body which still has a family dispute between two parties from the maternal and the paternal sides.
The DNA tests of the nine girls was released on September 12, and identified positively by their families.
However the deputy director appealed to all learning institutions in the country to implement safety security and emergency preparedness plans as part of prevention measures.
The main suspect in the Moi girls fire is set to be arraigned in court later today after undergoing a mental checkup at Mathare Hospital.
