The IEBC has yielded to pressure and agreed to open its IT servers for a full audit by independent technology experts. Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati said he will include NASA and Jubilee IT professionals in the server audit team, which he said would be led by international experts.
On September 1, the Supreme Court annulled President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection. It ordered the commission to carry out a full audit of its servers. “I also intend to carry out a full audit of the servers guided by the previous orders of the Supreme Court,” Chebukati said. “The process will be transparent with international experts and representatives from the Jubilee Party and the NASA coalition.”
Chebukati said he will include NASA and Jubilee IT experts in the project team that will oversee the October 17 election. He picked his dream team of six members on Monday after efforts to force embattled top electoral chiefs to resign hit a snag.
