Eleven youth who were arrested for blocking Deputy President William Ruto's motorcade in Nyeri on Saturday have been released.

The youth were protesting against the appointment of Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua to the Jubilee Party campaign team recently unveiled at the Bomas of Kenya.
Those arrested had carried placards with inscriptions "Jubilee Under Attack".
They shouted anti-Jubilee slogans as Ruto's motorcade snaked through to Gititu Secondary School in Tetu constituency.

Police who had been deployed at the venue intervened, beat them up before arresting them.
The 3pm incident elicited social media outrage as videos and photos depicting the manner in which the police arrested them were shared.
