Africa music is slowly
gaining ground not only in Africa but the world over. This is evidenced by the
fact that the best African acts have been named in this year’s BET Awards
nominee list.
Representing South Africa is Hip Hop giants AKA, Cassper Nyovest and dance/house legend Black Coffee.
From Nigeria we have Wizkid and Afro-pop diva Yemi Alade battling it out for the title. It is worth noting that Wizkid won the award in 2012.
Also featuring in the list of nominees is East African powerhouse Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania).
Ghana’s dancehall/R&B queen Mzvee and Cote D’Ivoire’s CoupĂ© DecalĂ© star Serge Beynaud round out the nominees for Africa.
The awarding ceremony is said to take place in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday 26 June.
It will premier across Africa on BET (DStv channel 129) on Tuesday 28 June.
