Laikipia leaders urge NTSA to enforce traffic laws

Laikipia West Member of Parliament Wachira Karani and Laikipia County Assembly Speaker Patrick Mariru have called on the government to institute stringent measures to ensure that  drivers who cause accidents are not only prosecuted, but also have driving licences cancelled.
The duo said the government, through the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), needs to crack a whip on rogue drivers whose conduct on the road is questionable.
The leaders called upon the NTSA to ensure that such drivers are properly dealt with according to the law.

He said the country had good traffic laws yet majority of drivers were disobeying them.
He was speaking at a funeral service of an elderly woman who perished in a road accident along the Kinamba-Nyahururu Road just a few metres after boarding a matatu.
The MP urged passengers to take safety precaution and avoid boarding overloaded vehicles to avoid such accidents.
Mariru echoed the sentiments and called on the NTSA to deal with the drivers and vehicle owners that put unroadworthy vehicles on the Kenyan roads.
