Sonko is alleged to have started a verbal exchange which worsened into a physical exchange, forcing the committee to adjourn indefinitely.
Kidero and Sonko are said to have exchanged words after the latter alleged that Kidero, and some of his allies, had murdered a property owner on Nairobi’s lavish Kilimani estate.
The Nairobi senator Sonko was, however, ordered by the session’s chair to withdraw his remarks and apologize since the utterances were not within the Standing Orders and the Senate has no jurisdiction to deal with such issues.
Journalists were locked out of the room immediately the altercation began.
Speaking with journalists after the ordeal, Sonko confirmed that in deed the two had a confrontation and Kidero wanted to punch him.
