IEBC Officers expressed fears that NASA officials could disrupt elections

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has assured its officers and voters in Opposition strongholds of adequate security ahead of the repeat presidential elections.

Speaking at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu during a training of officials yesterday, she affirmed to poll officials and voters in Nyanza that they will be provided with adequate security on and after the polling day. The officers had expressed fears that NASA officials could disrupt elections thereby compromising their security given that Raila is opposed to the polls.

She said their concerns will adequately address them. IEBC is at the same time grappling with finding solutions to conduct free and fair elections amid security impasse in the county.

The commission has adopted some changes to be effected in the repeat elections, for instance, they have reduced the number of polling clerks per station from 6 to 3. The training will enable the officials be conversant with the changes put in place to ensure a free, fair and credible elections.
