IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba has demanded an apology and removal of his name from case filed by Kenya Independent Workers Union to challenge naming of new poll team.
Chiloba urged the firm to remove his name from the case, saying that he had not instructed anyone to represent him in court.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba has come out to demand for an apology from a reputable law firm for being included in a case contesting the appointment of a new elections team.
As reported earlier, the Kenya Independent Commissions Workers Union who are ‘representing’ Chiloba and five other officials of the commission filed a case at the Labour and Industrial Relations Court to stop the suspension or sacking of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other officials.
The court certified the case as urgent and ordered that the parties return to court on September 21 for hearing.
Well, following the new development, Ezra Chiloba has come out to distance himself from the case and seek an apology from the law firm that had filed the case on ‘his’ behalf.
Chiloba, in a letter addressed to Wambui Ndegwa Law firm demanded an apology from the firm for purporting to represent him and other IEBC officials in court.
In a letter dated Friday, September 8,Chiloba urged the firm to remove his name from the case, saying that he had not instructed anyone to represent him in court.
Chiloba’s move comes in the wake of confusion in the electoral body. As reported earlier by thespotlightpost.co.ke, a memo leaked on Thursday, September 7, from Chebukati to Chiloba demanding answers on the bungled election that the Supreme Court nullified.
The IEBC Chair further revealed that over 10,000 forms 34A were not submitted to the commission, over 500 polling stations did not submit results and over 600 polling stations had rejected votes similar to the number of registered voters in those polling stations.
