Nakuru Governor quits gubernatorial race.

Governor Kinuthia Mbugua Saturday quit the Nakuru gubernatorial race in favour of Jubilee Party’s nominee Lee Kinyanjui at an event attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.


The President, at the event for Jubilee Party aspirants in Nakuru County, welcomed the decision by Governor Mbugua to put aside his personal interest for the greater good of the Jubilee Party.
The move by Governor Mbugua to abandon the race boosts Mr Kinyanjui’s chances of winning the Nakuru gubernatorial seat in the coming General Election.
President Kenyatta urged all Jubilee nominees and supporters to forge a united front, saying it will guarantee the party’s victory in the August polls.
Deputy President William Ruto attended the meeting with Jubilee nominees from Nakuru County. He congratulated them for clinching the party ticket.
“We must work together to unite people and consolidate our party’s strength,” President Kenyatta said, exuding confidence that Nakuru has a strong Jubilee team that will ensure the party captures all the seats.
The Nakuru aspirants meeting came ahead of a second day of their meet-the-people tour of Nakuru County that will see them visit Rongai, Olenguruone, Kuresoi Molo and Njoro, wrapping up the day with a public rally in Nakuru town.
In the last six days, the President and the DP have blitzed through 11 counties, showcasing their delivery credentials, and asking Kenyans to keep faith with their team, which has delivered on the promises it has made.
President Kenyatta thanked those who lost during the Jubilee Party primaries and who have continued to support those who won, saying they will be accommodated when Jubilee forms the next Government.
The President particularly saluted Subukia MP Nelson Gaichuhie and his Njoro counterpart Joseph Kiuna for accepting the wish of the people to remain in Jubilee after losing in the Jubilee Party nomination exercise.
