Blow to Kalonzo as 600 Kamba Elders Endorse President Uhuru

National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka’s bid to deliver the Ukambani region votes to NASA candidate Raila Odinga, Kamba elders drawn from 22 clans in Kitui County have endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.

More than 600 elders converged in a Kitui hotel where they unanimously resolved to reciprocate the head of state’s gesture in empowering the elderly in the country through cash transfer program for the elderly where more than 14,000 people in Kitui have already benefitted.

The elders, led by the Kamba Council of Elders National Chairman Boniface Kilonzo, vowed to counsel the youth in the county not to be misused by politicians to cause chaos and violence during
the electioneering period, and urge them to vote for President Uhuru in the upcoming elections.

Kilonzo revealed that the Kamba council was working with Gikuyu, Embu and Meru Association (Gema) leaders to preach peace between the represented communities ahead of the General Election.
“The Kamba nation has for decades co-existed with communities in Mount Kenya region socially, economically and politically and the same should be upheld as the country goes for August election,” he said.
