Reverend Paul Njiru Bans Politicians from Fundraisers in Embu

A Catholic Bishop of the Embu Diocese has issued stern orders to Christians in the county instructing them on how they ought to behave as the country approaches the much-awaited 2017 General Election.

In a warning letter, Reverend Paul Kariuki Njiru cautioned the locals against accepting bribes from politicians in order to woo them for votes noting that 'true leaders give their manifesto of what they can do to help our country'.

Mr Njiru stated that politicians must never be included as guests of honor in fundraisers but instead make contribution like any other person.
The Bishop mentioned that no leader will be allowed to make any political announcements during church services, funerals and burials in the county.
He noted that the church compound, halls or any other facilities should not be used for political gathering in Embu County.

Rev Njiru called on the men of the cloth to neither publicly affiliate themselves to a particular party nor campaign for a politician.
“No priest is supposed to be publicly affiliated to a particular political party; nor can a priest campaign for a politician or for a particular political party,” Njiru stated.
The man of God strictly told Christians not to participate in night political meetings adding that the youth ought to refrain from being used to cause chaos.
Njiru further urged the Christian body to pray ahead of the elections.
