Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has claimed that former senior adviser to opposition leader Raila Odinga is suffering from acute dementia.

Acute dementia is a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning.

Sonko made the remarks on Facebook Monday, May 23rd when a fan posed a question to him about Miguna Miguna claiming that the Nairobi Senator engages in illegal drug business.

Muindi Njoroge posed: “Miguna claims you (Sonko) are a drug dealer… defend yourself.”

Sonko straight away replied: “The man (Miguna) is suffering from acute dementia. A day cannot pass without him mentioning my name. My past is an open book for everyone to read.”

Sonko then took to Twitter on the same day and claimed he has no bad blood against Miguna Miguna..
“Despite Miguna constantly abusing and defaming me, I will appoint him in government should I win in 2017,” said Sonko.

Miguna, whose handle was tagged in the tweet, retaliated: “My brother Sonko, I cannot serve under or with a member of the cartel, thief… do you understand?”

This is not the first time Sonko and Miguna are putting a showdown on social media on the subject of their 2017 Nairobi gubernatorial interest.

On May 12th, Miguna Miguna called Mike Sonko “functionally illiterate” and a “joker who is not qualified to be anything” on KTN’s Jeff Koinange Live.

Miguna Miguna made the tart remarks when he was asked by host Jeff Koinange how serious his gubernatorial bid is, and whether he will beat Sonko.

“Why do people ask if I am serious with my bid to run for Nairobi Governor while they don’t ask the joker Sonko for example? Sonko is not qualified to be anything! The man can hardly read; the man does not even know his functions as a Senator,” Muguna stated.

Touching on Sonko’s 2015 graduation from Kenya Methodist University, Miguna claimed that the Senator’s academic qualifications were bought.

“He bought his degree, but let me tell you this: a county like Nairobi which is the capital city cannot be run by people who are functionally illiterate. He was elected Senator (in 2013), he has not spoken once; he has not tabled any bill (before The Senate) he has not brought Kidero to account…” the outspoken Miguna continued.

Not taking these remarks lying down, Sonko took to Facebook and clapped back at Miguna Miguna.
“I agree with Miguna that I might not know how to read but when it comes to service delivery, I am perfect. Again, I might not know how to write and speak fluent English but when it comes to addressing the main challenges we are facing as a county today, I have the skills and can partner with Nairobi residents, professionals and investors among other stakeholders to address the challenges facing the good people of Nairobi City County,” he wrote.

Sonko and Miguna are slated to battle for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in August 2017 as the barrister expressed interest in the political position February, 2016 – barely a month after Sonko’s confirmation.
