Police are pursuing a driver of a vehicle seized with 3,155 haul of bhang after he jumped into the Indian ocean to evade arrest in Mtwapa, Kilifi County. Kilifi police boss Alexander Makau said the drugs with Sh1million street value were concealed in bags.
They were intercepted at a road block along the Mombasa highway. Detectives are yet to arrest the driver. "The vehicle was flagged down during a routine police check when the driver took off and abandoned the vehicle. This prompted officers to inspect the vehicle and impounded the drugs, “said Makau.
Makau said the drugs were being ferried from Mombasa to an unknown location within Kilifi county. The vehicle is at the Mtwapa police station as investigations continue. Senior anti narcotic officers suspect the driver is among wanted drug traffickers who have in the past escaped police dragnets.
