Leicester City to appeal against Jamie Vardy red card

Leicester City have appealed against the red card shown to striker Jamie Vardy in Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw at Stoke City.

The 29-year-old was dismissed in the 28th minute for a two-footed tackle on Mame Diouf, although he won the ball and contact was made with the Stoke player's shins.
Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri defended his player at full time, and now the club have confirmed that they will be fighting to get the dismissal rescinded.

A statement from the league champions read: "The club has made its case for an instance of wrongful dismissal and expects to hear the outcome of the appeal in the coming days."
If the decision is upheld, the England international will receive a three-match ban, ruling him out of games against Everton, West Ham United and Middlesbrough.
