Five people have
reportedly been arrested trying to gain entry into Uhuru Park while in
possession of crude weapons.
In a video capturing the incident, the suspects were bundled into a police vehicle and taken away under tight security.
Confirming the incident Kilimani OCPD Peter Katam indicated that about 11 suspects have been arrested at Uhuru Park ahead of CORD's event at the grounds.
The CORD coalition members and their supporters are set to hold parallel Madaraka Day celebrations at Uhuru Park even as President Uhuru Kenyatta leads the celebrations at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
A high number of security agents have been deployed at both venues to avert any chaotic incidents.
